INITIATIVE®
Paving the way for systemic change through cultural sustainability.
We co-design and implement tools for valuing Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions.
The Cultural Intellectual Property Rights Initiative® (CIPRI) comprises a for-profit entity, a not-for-profit entity and a commitment-based worldwide community. We provide services and design system-changing actions rooted in 4 action pillars.
We provide strategy development and branding services to textile and fashion (T&F) stakeholders and educational institutions, focusing on cultural sustainability through a craft centric approach.
We provide strategy development for the protection of Traditional knowledge (TK) and traditional cultural expressions (TCEs). TK and TCEs have intrinsic social, cultural, spiritual, economic, scientific, intellectual and educational value (WIPO). Traditional cultures and knowledge systems represent a living body of knowledge, subject to ongoing innovation and creativity.
We also provide conventional Intellectual Property consulting focused on IP tools with relevance to the fashion industry and the craft economy, including copyright, EU Community design rights, Trade Marks, Geographical Indications (GI) and Trade Secrets.
We provide educational services on topics surrounding Cultural Sustainability with a holistic approach and in-depth perspectives on the intersections of law, cultural heritage, sustainable development, technology and design.
